Founded in 1931 by mountaineer Glenn Exum, who notched the first ascent of the south ridge of the Grand Teton that same year, this Jackson Hole-based company is known for its rock climbing and mountaineering skills courses and expeditions in Wyoming and Idaho. Its staff of all-star guides includes Al Read, with 46 years of guiding experience, and Jack Tackle, who made the first ascent of Mount McKinley's Isis Face. In the winter, Exum adds backcountry skiing, ice climbing, and ski and snowboard mountaineering to its trip roster.
