The travel branch of the outdoor-clothing retailer, REI Adventures dispatches 1,000 trips worldwide each year—but small group-size and creative lodging give its trips the feel of a much smaller operation. The authentic accommodations it seeks out include stays in the home of a Croatian villager, at a sheep station in New Zealand, or helping out at a ranch in Patagonia.
