This picture was taken in Marietta, Ohio, during the annual Ohio River Sternwheeler Festival. The fireworks were absolutely gorgeous, and the finale was quite dramatic. A long exposure with a wide angle lens helped capture this scene.

It's been exceptionally cold recently in Spearfish Canyon, South Dakota. Bridal Veil Falls was frozen solid tempting this unidentified climber to challenge gravity and the ice.

Mountain View, Arkansas
Photograph by Laura Raborn, My Shot
For this photo, I was watching my husband and children come through the fog toward the old bridge I stood on in Mountain View. It was early in the morning and the dense air seemed trapped along the river. The fall foliage in Arkansas is outstanding and the bright leaves peeked through the fog that morning.

In a more bountiful time, Tulsa, Oklahoma, sat atop the world's largest known pool of oil. Drilling derricks were everywhere, even on the lawn of the state capitol. To celebrate this good fortune, a giant roustabout was built on the Tulsa Fairgrounds in 1953.
