I can't say enough about the city as a base for adventure. With the Rattlesnake Wilderness area minutes from downtown and the Bob Marshall, Selway-Bitterroot, Pintlar, Mission, and Scapegoat Wilderness areas all within 90 minutes, it's simply unbeatable for those who like getting lost (figuratively!) in the back-country. Great atmosphere in town as well, very casual and fun.

This is an absolutely wonderful place to live and visit. My wife and I lived there for three years. You cannot find a thriving community closer to all that the outdoors has to offer. It is a great place to bike, has great schools, parks, stores, and people. The University of Montana also adds a wonderful changing and youthful feel to the down. You cannot go to Missoula without visiting the Book Exchange, Paul's Pancake Parlor, Caras Park, McKenzie River Pizza, and many other places.
