we stayed 4 days near st. george (10 mi.) in snow canyon state park. quiet small park, great stones, good climbing, easy hiking and a great mix of Utah`s landscapes after our 5 week trip through the West. I never saw so many bikers (except Moab) in the US as in St. George. the kids loved it. it was also the last nature oasis before flying back from sin city to germany.

Don't forget Pine Valley Mountain, the world's largest laccolith, looming over the north part of town. It has several approaches, all of which are challenging, and the views are great. I recommended scaling it from Oak Grove Campground for a great day trip
