Great adventure but you don't mention the fact that Isle Royale is in Michigan. No love for the Great Lakes State. Minnesota claims a tiny sliver of Lake Superior where as Michigan boasts the majority of the great lake including Isle Royale and it's shiprecks.

Ok, nice. You left out the TransAmerica trail, an all dirt crossing of America from Jellico, Tennessee to Oregon. It is a dirtbikers (motorcycle)
dream. I put it at number two.

Wow. The Great Divide Mountain Bike Route (a.k.a. Great Divide Route) is #1. Thanks National Geographic Adventure for your fantastic coverage of one our most beloved routes. Just one small thing - while the article gets it right by calling it the Great Divide Route, the headline mistakenly names the route as the "Continental Divide Trail," which is a different trail altogether (and meant for hikers).

I was from Iowa - and I've never read such an inviting description of the state. Anyone half way interested in biking should not miss at least one RAGBRAI in their lifetime - including me !!!!

RAGBRAI is not a race. Let there be no mistake. The author surely is not a cyclist.

Be sure to bring your sandals as they are the official shoe of RAGBRAI, either on or off the bike.
