great comfortable sleep
This is a very light weight air mattress that gives a much more comfortable sleep than the foam pad I am more used to for backpacking!
This pad is the perfect blending of comfort and convenience.
The pad is extremely convenient for backpacking, considering its light weight and small size requirement (the size of a 1L bottle). I will be purchasing one for each of my family for our summer backpacking.
Now I can sleep in comfort.
I am very happy with the Big Agnes Air Core Mummy Pad I purchased. It is light& compact enough ror my backpacking needs. It's a whole lot more comfortable than the closed cell pad I've been using, now I'll be able to sleep on my stomach with comfort. Thanks
Get a Comfortable Night's Sleep
I used to never sleep very good backpacking. Thin pads were the bane of my sleeping existence. Even a self-inflatable foam was still no good for me. I always needed more, especially because I sleep on my side. I finally broke down and bought the Air Core Mummy. I am sleeping better now. The Air Core's 2.5" of thickness keeps me off the ground and allows me sleep on my side and actually gives support. I've only used it for part of a summer and so far durability is good. The main downsides I can see are you have to inflate it yourself, which isn't too bad, it just takes a few minutes. If you're lazy, then it'll suck. Also if it gets a hole you're done for. Better keep the included patch kit with you at all times or some duct tape or super glue. Overall it's a good pad, though I wish I would have gotten the insulated version for the colder nights.
Comfortable but a bit of a hassle
Definately great for sleeping just about anywhere no matter what the terrain. Also it is very light and packs up well. However, it takes a while to inflate and leaves you dizzy after. It also takes time and pressure to deflate the pad when rolling it up due to the small inflate/deflate nozzle. Aside from a little effort it is still worth the comfortable sleep it provides.
