Very Practical Shelter
A friend of mine bought a PUP Privacy Tent many years ago to use on river trips here in Idaho. He set it up and I used it along with 8 to 21 other people on something like 15 river trips, and he ran several with it along that I didn't go on. The tent was really handy because you could set it up in plain sight and still ensure privacy of anyone using the facility. The velcro window flaps are really a plus because you can let a breeze through or shut the one toward the camp for privacy, or shut all of them to keep warmer on a cold morning. My friend always set up the toilet facing the door, which made the built-in pouch for toilet paper behind your shoulder, but it would have been handy if he had just turned the potty 90 degrees so the paper would be more accessable to the side. I guess it was never a enough of a bother for me to complain though ... After many, many years, last summer the zipper malfunctioned, and that's the only problem we ever had. It still zipped far enough to give one privacy, however. Perhaps a little silicone zipper lubricant would have helped. I just bought a PUP Tent to use on my own trips without borrowing my friend's. I found setting it up the first time (I had never helped my friend set his up!) to be a little awkward but I'm sure after doing it a couple of times it will be no problem, as my buddy always had his up or down in a couple of minutes. A real plus is the fact that it fits into such a compact sleeve and doesn't weigh but about 6 pounds. Similar shelters I've looked at either have been of poorer quality or been heavier and bigger. The PUP Tent is really quite roomy for its intended use. I highly recommend it. Strobe
