These are great shorts for the lake. Soft, comfortable, nonbinding, and dries really fast. Great to wear when canoing or paddleboating. I wish there were more colors...I'd have a a whole summer wardrobe full.

Nice, comfy shorts
I was looking for a pair of versatile shorts for hiking and working out. I found them here in Columbia's Sandy River Shorts! These are uber comfy with their drawstring elastic waist. As others have mentioned, the length is just right, not too short. I have already worn them to the gym where I appreciated their relaxed fit. The little zip pocket in the back is great for a key. Next up, hiking in them along with my new Keen Alamosa hikers. FYI, I'm petite, 5'2" and got a size small. They fit me kinda loosely, but that's what I was looking for. Great all-around short
Very versatile and comfortable shorts. They are super light and dry quickly. Great for wearing camping, rafting, etc. but still nice enough looking to wear around town. Love the mid-thigh length of them, so I don't feel like I am wearing my running shorts. The side pockets are real ones, roomy and practical. Deep enough to hold my iphone without worrying too much about it sliding out when I sit down. The zippered back pocket comes in handy when I want to secure small items (my iphone fits in there too). Overall a nicely designed, practical short which is designed for playing hard as well as real life.

These shorts are very comfortable. I was a little hesitant about the length maybe being too short, but they're not. They dry very quickly. Like all Columbia products they're very well made. I liked them so much I order another pair in a different color.

Great shorts
These shorts are great for anything. The length is perfect, not too short and not too long. The waistband is extremely comfortable and does not "dig in" like other elastic-waist shorts. I also love the colors; I purchased three pair and I plan to purchase more.
