Robust hat!
This is a great hat. I got this for fly fishing and camping and it is a awesome hat. The material is really stiff so it stays in the shape you want, but then the heat from your head warms up the material to give a perfect fit. It would probably be too hot to wear somewhere like Florida, but for a use in Colorado it is perfect.
Tough Hat
I like the rugged look and the quality build. I have only used this spring/summer hiking in +8000' elevation with relatively mild temps. I could see that this hat could be hot in very warm climates. Perfect for repelling rain, holds shape and I think will last for a number years with the look getting better. So far very satisfied.
I love this hat. I had one for 20 years, but it was a bit too small, so I sized up. It's perfect for the Portland rain.
legndary craftsmanship and character, but heavy
As you can see, Filson hats are know for their legndary craftsmanship and character. As for me, it is almost impossible to find this hat of right size fedora and crown. But the oil finish tin cloth is heavy and thick. So it is totally unsuitable for wearing summer hats.
nice hat
will be good in stormy weather
