For Lightweight Traveling & Backpacking
I have been a backpack traveler for many, many years. I have used the traditional "travel backpacks" such as from Eagle Creek, eBags, etc. in the past. Although they work relatively okay, either the hip belt support is missing - which is difficult when walking about town for miles; or the capacity is too large (or will not cinch down when I don't have as many items); or there are too many random, and unnecessary pockets; or the pack is too wide for my small frame; or the bag is quite heavy on its own. After doing my homework, the GoLite backpacks intrigued me because of its ultralight weight (1 lb 7 oz), its minimalist design, ability to cinch down (similar to a regular book/laptop backpack) or expand up (almost 2900 cu in), and the narrow fit to help my center of gravity with a hip belt that fits me in the right spot - even with my 5'0" frame. The "Jam" is middle of the road in size - I'm losing about 500 cu inches in space that I am used to carrying, but with careful packing, I don't even miss it. Please note that there are many good reviews on this product on other sites, but primarily in the context of hiking/backpacking - which I plan on using the GoLite for as well.
