Not itchy at all!
when it was suggested I switch to wool from tried-and-true capilene, I was skeptical. Not itchy? Guess I'd better try and see. WOW. These are warm, extremely light and not itchy. So well made they look like they'll last for years (as long as you keep it out of the dryer :) Thumbs up!

I am sold on wool! I will never buy any gear that's not wool! Dried fast and regulated temp. Best layering EVER! I am 5'8" and 125lbs. A small is perfect if it will be a base layer. If I want it over something else, I like a medium

wool is the ticket for all seasons
Have bought several of these woolie tops from Ibex. They are so versatile that we use them year-around. The fit is athletic (form-fitting but very comfy). Warm, man are these tops warm. And no, they don't itch. If you've never considered wool as your base layer you should. It won't stink after a week-long backpacking trip. It transfers moisture (sweat) just like the synthetic garmets do. I prefer the zip-tee for the heat-regulating option but Ibex makes other styles as well.

I wear this shirt year-round--alone in the cool summer weather and layered as a light baselayer in the winter weather. The breathability is superior to comparable brands.

lightweight; great for hiking and layering under a drysuit
For kayaking/under a drysuit: Got this lightweight wool zip T in size large to use as a layer over a lightweight wool crew size medium (my actual size). No sweat literally; big improvement over my "wicking" synthetic layers. Also use for hiking. Soft and true-to-size.
