Kayland Men's Vertigo Light Lightweight Hiking Boots
Spin your way through the trails and let the fresh air make you dizzy as you enjoy the outdoors in the lightweight Kayland Vertigo Light Lightweight Hiking Boots - Men's! The boot delivers the same "great-for-most-feet fit" as its award-winning, backpacking brother, the Vertigo High. The heel cup cradles the heel so well there's no upward rubbing on steep climbs or forward slipping on steep descents. Awarded the 2009 Outside Gear of the Year Award.
- Material: Breathable abrasion-resistant textile upper with 1.6-1.8mm suede leather
- Lacing extends right to the toe to ensure precise adjustment of fit
- Lining: eVent® Cocona lining for moisture-wicking and breathability
- eVent® fabrics consist of a patented waterproof membrane that also protects you from wind. Its unique composition allows millions of tiny pores to breathe at their full potential. Sweat vents directly to the outside of the fabric in one easy step. The patented fabric keeps water out without blocking those millions of tiny pores that let the sweat out
- Cocana Natural Technology is an activated carbon derived from coconut shells. This material is superior to other materials because of its extreme hardness and extensive and uniform pore structure. No other activated carbon absorbs moisture better. Activated carbon made from coconut shells undergoes Cocona's patented process and is then extruded into man-made fiber. Kayland® chooses coconut activated carbon because it is a recycled, sustainable material. Cocana Natural Technology provides uv protection, evaporative cooling and comfort, while being odor resistant
- Light insole and V-K midsole provide cushion and long-wear comfort
- Active Last. Kayland® believes the fit of a shoe begins with the form and design of the last. Kayland® lasts are a replica of the human foot, around which the upper is stretched to give the boot its internal shape. For nearly 40 years, Kayland® has taken feedback from male and female athletes and mountaineers to develop a range of lasts to ensure an optimal combination of fit and performance
- Lightweight and durable Vibram® Mars outsole provides comfort and shock absorption
- 5.00" shaft height
- 13.50" circumference
- Weight: 21.00 oz.

Great Boots!!!
I have worn these boots in a wide variety of field conditions over a period of 6 months. They are an exceptionally well executed, lightweight backpacking boot. Uppers look great and are durable, breathable and water resistant. Excellent heel control, arch support, forefoot cushioning and ankle support. Very sturdy boot with just the right amount of stiffness. True to size, ideal for medium to low volume feet.
Great boot
Very similar to the vertigo high but much lighter. These boots do run small, I ordered a full size up what what I usually wear. Great value break in time seems to be going quickly. I put them on right out of the box and they feel very comforable
These boots are phenomenal!
I see why Outside magazine ranked them as their gear of the year. They required almost no break in period. They are incredibly light. I am currently working on some research in the desert of New Mexico and are working well in the hot sands.
Great Boots
I was skeptical on purchasing these boots because of some of the online reviews that said you have to have a narrow foot. Well I am glad I decided to give them a try! When I first opened the box the first thing I noticed was the quality of the boot. The vibram soles, stitching and overall feel. The big test was next, how they felt while on my feet. My toes did feel cramped in the toe box, but the rest of my foot felt comfortable. I losened up the the laces a little and that did help. After 3 days of wearing them and breaking them in, they feel very good now. Still feel a little "close" in the toe area, but nothing that causes any discomfort or any kind of rubbing on my foot. I feel like they are "bomb" proof, I haven't been able to test if they are waterproof yet but doubt that will be an issue. Oh and I almost forgot the BEST part, my feet have had no issues with breathing in these boots. No sweaty socks!! These are not boots I would wear casually with jeans, but I have no fear that they will support me when hiking and backpacking.
Good boots, but...
I have medium width, low volume feet with narrow heels, like many of those who find Kayland boots a good fit. I have had a pair of their Apex XT light mountaineering boots for two years and love them. I ordered the Vertigo Light as a replacement for my aging light hikers, but after wearing them around inside the house, I was disappointed to find that the toe box is too narrow. I've seen this issue with these boots raised elsewhere in reviews. The fit is great in all other aspects and true to size (size 9), but if my toes feel cramped wearing them at home, I'd hate to think of what they're going to be like after a few hours on the trail.
