Big Bang for the Buck
If you require a free-standing, double wall tent for 3++ season backpacking, this is a great value. It easily withstood 3" of Smoky Mountain snow with swirling winds in DEC 2010. Very spacious as a solo tent, cozy for two. I'm 6'2" and needed to sleep diagonally to optimize length and still wish I had a bit more, but at 82x58x44 there was plenty of room for gear (less the food bag) and my boots were dry under the decent size vestible. Very easy to set up and take down. I did upgrade the stakes (a must) and guylines along with a Tyvek groundsheet. The 44" peak height made getting dressed and packed very easy for a taller guy. No condensation inside as the fly has a vent. A great tent to consider if you need to stretch your dollars.
Tried it, Loved It
My girlfriend and I took our first backpacking trip on the AT this summer. We looked long and hard for a good tent for our adventure. I wanted a full cover fly, aluminum poles, light weight and it had to still be affordable. We found a host of options that offered one or two of these, however this tent offered them all. Our trip went without a hitch the tent was awesome!! We decided one evening not to put the fly on at about 2 am we were both waked by rain drops. It took seconds to jump out and put the fly on for a fitfull nights sleep. I am a fairly big guy (5' 11", 240) it was a little tight but if you sleep head to the door you will be fine with the added shoulder room. It is also very easy to enter and exit beacuse of the shape of the door.
Perfect price and size!
I have been looking for the perfect backpacking tent and now I have it! Not only is the size and weight perfect for mid-length trips(3-6 days), but you can't beat the price.
Great tent!
This is the perfect tent for a persons first backpacking trip. It's light weight is a plus, as is the ease of setting up. My son, a new scout, stayed dry during a severe thunder storm (downpour). So he is ready to go again, a lot has to do with the performance of his tent first time out. Way to go Kelty!
Exceeded my expectations.
This tent is awesome. I just used it on a field trip this weekend. We had several storms blow in. Many of the other tents in our campsite were blown over or leaked water. This tent had no problem with the 40mph gusts and the rainfly kept every drop out. This tent provides well enough room for a single person but I'm sure two people can share this tent with a little room left for some gear.
