Reviews
The pack is BIG. I have all of my gear stuffed into it with room to spare. The main compartment is very large even with a sleeping bag in the bottom. Having a spot for your hydration bladder is very convenient, tho it can be a pain to rout the hose. (If you have a water filter that allows you to back fill the bladder though the hose there is no problem) The ability to access items through the front and the top is also a very convenient feature. I have found that by loading through the front makes it much easier to get everything packed just right. The external compression straps keep everything snug and close to your back. One of the only problems I have is the lack of lashing point on the outside of the pack. Tho If you want lots of lashing points you would probably be better suited with an external frame pack. All in all I am very happy with this pack and feel confident that it will last me a long time and serve me well in my adventures.
Great Quality, Highly adjustable
Love this pack, adjusts easily to work well for my boys, not that I'll let them use it yet. Sturdy and well thought out.
Work Horse among packs
I own many packs of different brands. One of them is an older Kelty red cloud 5600, and another is the one you see here. I like different packs for different outings, but whenever I'm going into unknown territories I go back to my 5600's. Large capacities, multiple compartments, and a detachable lid with a waistbelt are among many of this pack's features. the pack isn't ultra light, but well worth the extra few ounces over similar packs. In Over thirty years of backpacking, this is one of the most rugged, efficient, and affordable packs I've ever seen
strong, light, almost every thing I need
Only bad things I noticed were that the ski loops(I think that's what they are) can fall out and it would be nice if it was waterproof(I was out in the rain for three days, most of gear got wet). I plan to get a pack cover.
