yes, it's brutally expensive in US$, but it's also (imo) the best mountaineering softshell on the planet. period. the hood fit is awesome, the hand pockets and zips are all sealed extremely well, it's (so far) extremely durable, and it's not chock-full of useless extra stuff. two minor items: main zipper will probably last a bout 2 years then need replacing. if the hood had a stow-loop, that would be great. the real test will be the durability of the nanosphere treatment over the years, but again - this is not your everyday softshell, it WILL last years

The Schoeller material IS pretty, BUT I meant pretty darn water repellant!! Ha!

Great Jacket
Bought on recommendation to use for ice climbing. Finish, and fit are outstanding. Nice slim fit! I am 5' 10'' 170# and Lg fits great. Schoeller material is terrific, stretchy and pretty. the hood is very adjustable and is quite large to fit helmet, but can be cinched down easily and gives great protection without helmet. Mammut makes great clothing, and this jacket is well worth a look for active winter pursuits......

Best Softshell Jacket for Apline Mountaineering
This is one of the best soft shell jackets on the market. I use this as my soft shell layer when I am alpine climbing in the White Mountains. I layer this jacket with a merino wool base layer, Patagonia capilene 3, and TNF Mammatus hard shell, then NTF Himalyan Parka in extreme colds. This jacket breathes very well and helps to transfer moisture from sweating. Also does a great job protecting from wind and cold. Best feature is the hood and zippers around the face. Alpine style pockets are great and dont get in the way from backpack. I am able to fit down mittens, balaclava and goggles in the front pockets and still able to move comfortably on the mountain. Overall, excellent choice for a soft shell layer for any epic alpine adventures, and the mustard yellow is a wicked color and makes you highly visible in the snow.

Love it
Great jacket, keeps the elements out. Love the nanosphere fabric, allows for great movement. Fit is slim, and finally found something for long arms. Hood is great with a helmet, but too big to wear otherwise.
