Excellent for cool weather
I have many of the Marmont vests. I wear the ones that best match the weather without being too much. They make some that are wind stoppers and some that are for warmth. The Approach vest is a mid level wind stopper. I have two . One XL and one L. Use the XL over one of their down vests and the L by its self. I am 6'3", 190 lbs and they fit perfect worn as described. We have a lot of days with 20 to 30 mph wind. The Approach is perect for 45 to 60 degrees in this wind and at a lot cooler temps with less wind.

Excellent All-around soft shell vest
Excellent multiuse softshell vest - exactly what I was looking for! I used to have Arc'teryx gamma SV softshell vest, and Marmot approach is as good, if not better, and for the half of the cost... Durable, lightweight, simple / clean-looking, athletic fit (I am 5'8", and the small fits great). All the necessary details are there - drop back hem for coverage while riding a bike, elastic draw cord along the hem, chest pocket, tough zippers. The only adjustments I would make are fleece-lined collar (this model has a soft-shell-lined collar) and internal zippered pocket, but other than that, this vest exceeds my expectations. As usual, exemplary service from Altrec - thank you !

Initally thought it was going to be too thin to be warm but after wearing it, it has a nice warmth to weight ratio. Will use it as core mid layer under shell for skiing

sharp looking and comfortable - perfect for spring/autuimn night - I did have a problem with some markings on collar - washed it twice, and it seems to have gone away - jury still out on this though
