This is an excellent shoe for any outdoor event. Very comfortable all day. I have read the previous reviews, and the only thing I would recommend is ordering the next full size larger than you normally wear. I have large "Fred Flintstone" feet as my wife calls them, and I am very happy.

great hiking shoe,a little stiff out of the box but breaks in quickly. light weight,freakishly low price at altrec!!!ran with the dog in the rain,feet stayed dry.cushion insole keeps feet from getting sore. size runs true to size.

Trail Traction
I have worn merrell long before they were the treker's "must have". This shoe is a blend of the stretch and the refuge. It forms around your foot like the stretch with the firm stability of the refuge. Excellent for light backpacking and superb for on or off trail treking. Easy and soothing on your feet when doing multi-mile treks. You won't go wrong with a pair of these on your feet.

I have several pair of Merrell shoes and these meet the quality and standard that all of the shoes have so far. Highly recommend these to others, for trails, canoeing, hiking or anything outdoors.

This is my third pair of Merrell Ventilator Gore-Tex shoes which I have been wearing day in and day out in all seasons. There have been an incremental but important evolution in the design of the shoe which the latest version sturdier lacing eyes (nylon and plastic rather than the leather of the earlier generation which ultimately failed) and what feels like a more supportive and deeper lugged sole. The shoe is both waterproof - use it through rain and snow and breathable - use it through the summer - which is the reason for choosing this particular model. I have a short (7.5 D) wide foot that the Merrell fits like a glove - this is not true for many other brands. Will wear this out over the next few years and then will no doubt order a replacement pair.
