This an excellent lightweight down jacket, will work great as a standalone in dry weather and even better as a base layer. The large runs a little big but not bad. I gotit on sale so it was a great deal, if you like lightweight down you will like this.

Best Christmas Present Ever for My Guy!
I bought this in black and on sale for my guy who needed a down jacket desperately. He is an easy to fit size large, but I had to find the right style and this is it! It looks really good on him. Merrell also hit on something when they discovered the zip off sleeve. This was definitely a plus when comparing to other jackets because of the 2 in 1 feature - I saved a lot of money this way! Now, while it's cold, he says he's not even taking it off! It keeps him warm, he can wear it alone or under another jacket for added warmth, and he even wears it to bed, it's so warm and comfy! I also really like the feel of the fabric. It's not the usual shiny nylon. It has sort of a soft brushed finish. It feels really good! You can cinch the waist so no draft goes up, and it looks really good - totally in style. I highly recommend this jacket and Merrell in general! Thank you Altrec for your black friday sale, and for always having the best brands available at fair to awesome prices.

Lightweight and Warm
Nice lightweight down jacket that is very warm for the weight. Like the versatility of the zip-off sleeves to make it a vest. Also like the fact that it is not "slick" like a lot of other lightweight down jackets out there. The price is a drawback, but a good value if you can get it on sale or at a discount.

Versitile and warm
This jacket is going to be my go-to for snowshoeing this winter. It is packable enough to stuff in my pack and warm enough to be the insulating layer under my rain shell. It is much lighter and more comfortable than fleece while being warmer. I also like the idea of the zip-off arms (which is why it won out for me over the Patagonia offerings). I don't have much experience with these light down sweaters so I don't know if this is typical, but it seems less than stellar in the build quality department. It will function fine but the zippers are a bit catchy and getting the arms on and off is a bit of a pain. I think this is likely due to Merrell trying to keep the weight down. Also the feathers tend to poke through the lining some. I got a great buy on this from Altrec and I would buy it again if given the chance.
