Amazing Purchase! Highly Recommend!
I purchased these shoes after tons of research and while I was a bit hesitant purchasing a high-end, durable hiking shoe without first testing the fit and feel; however, with Altrec's return policy I figured I was safe. I'm happy to say I will not need to try out the return policy as I absolutely love these shoes! Here are some details: -Excellent grip and tread. The tread is designed in such a way that it properly grips in dry, wet or even icy conditions; rock or loose soil. The tread is extremely thick but not so much to make walking difficult or awkward. -The shoe is extremely breathable yet water repellent (I haven't submersed the shoe yet so cannot comment past water repellent). It breathes so well I haven't even had a chance to determine how well the shoe wicks away perspiration. -The craftsmanship is superb. The looks, feels and functions as a very well made piece of footwear. -Comfort, comfort, comfort. Even as a well made and functional piece of hiking equipment, these things are AMAZING on the comfort level. In fact, I'm struggling to keep myself from wearing them out casually as they're more comfortable than my everyday casual footwear. -Support and fit is superb. I am 5'10", approximately 200lbs. The shoes are size 12 (my normal shoe size) and fit perfect. They fit snug but are not tight. The shoes do not slide around and the sizing is accurate. If there was one Con to these shoes it's that the connection from the shoe to the tongue stops about halfway up the tongue. I prefer a "one piece" section to prevent pebbles from making their way in.
