Mountain Hardwear Men's Drystein Jacket

Designed as a close-fitting climbing jacket, the Mountain Hardwear Drystein Jacket for men has a highly water-resistant, easily packable construction that also works well for adventure travel and backpacking excursions. While many climbing jackets solve their vapor-transfer concerns with zippered vents beneath the sleeves, Mountain Hardwear applied highly breathable, water-resistant stretch side panels that eliminate the weight and hassles of extra zippers. The attached adjustable hood accommodates climbing helmets and easily adapts to fit skiing and snowboarding helmets, too. Keep in mind that Mountain Hardwear made their Men's Drystein Jackets with a close-fitting athletic cut, so if you're between sizes or you want to add a fleece mid-weight or heavier inner layer, consider choosing a size larger than what you normally wear for alpine or adventure travel outerwear.

Love the look and cut of the jacket as well as the mix of materials. The athletic fit is nice, room for a bit of layering but not so much fabric that you feel like your wearing a sail. I am 6'4" and the XL is perfect. I had two concerns when purchasing. -One, the waterproofing - After a month of wet winter use I am very happy with the Dry Q technology, I feel like it was money well spent. -Two, the hood - The hood was designed for use with a helmet, which I don't use. My concern was that I would be swimming in the hood and it would be a pain to manage. I was happy with how efficiently the Drystein's 2 cinching chords pulled the hood down to size, the fit on my head is snug and it turns nicely with my head. I am very happy with this jacket.
