Amazing Pack
I bought this pack in cornflower blue to use for school and for day hikes. I have not been disappointed. It can fit a few notebooks and text books in it when I don't have my laptop in there, or my laptop and two 3-subject notebooks, plus whatever I've crammed into the front storage pockets, like my keys, writing utensils, a pack of gum... Everything stay well organized and the front pockets being full does not hinder the space of the large main pocket. Plus, with all of that in it, the pack fits very well and sits comfortably on my back. I love that it has a chest and waist buckle too, because I can ride my bike with this pack and not worry about it falling off. I've trudged thru the rain a few times with it too, and while its not waterproof, the front flap and the drawcord cover on the main pocket keeps the weather out and your stuff dry. The side pocket could be used for a water bottle, but I keep my rain shell rolled up in there just in case of a downpour. This does effect the size of the main pocket just a bit, but I don't complain when it starts to rain. I've gotten so many compliments on this pack, and I'm so glad I bought it. It's well worth its price and the quality is excellent. I'm expecting it to last a long while!
Nice Pack
I got this pack a week ago to use for school and hopefully some hikes too. While it doesn't have a padded hip belt like my last hiking pack, the weight is really nicely distributed on my back, especially riding my bike. I compared this with the smaller Flap Jill pack and the organizer and small zip pocket were just a bit bigger on this one which sealed the deal; when I loaded up the smaller pockets they didn't fall inward and make filling the larger pockets difficult. Lots of compliments already, I love the blue color. Thanks Osprey and Altrec!
Great Pack!
I was looking for something stylish and not too girly. I was also looking for something that would not hurt my back when a large load was placed inside. After seeing the regular Flap Jill, I noticed on the Osprey site that there was a larger one developed. It is a great design. What it has in it: Two large pockets inside the main part; one to hold a laptop with a flap to hold it, the other same size to hold whatever. I can fit two large textbooks and two 1in binders and have a little of room to store items in the smaller sections. In front of the two large pockets there is a smaller pocket that is pretty deep with a pocket to hold a phone or ipod, two pen/pencil holders and a larger mesh pocket to hold other small items. In that same pocket you can hold a graphing calculator (just to give you a size range, cell phone, keys, and possibly a snack or two. That pocket does not zip up so it is quite easy to get into. Outside that pocket (but still under the main flap) is a zippered pocket. If you have your pack stuffed you may only be able to fit items with a smaller width in there. If you only have it moderately packed, you can fit more items that you would want to be easier for you to get to. There is also a clip on about a 2.5 inch piece of material (I use this for my school ID but there might actually be a different purpose for it). Outside, there is a large flap that covers the entire inner pockets I have described, with two easy to buckle clips. There is a side pocket that is pretty deep and can fit a water bottle in it if you do not have something the width of a standard 1 inch binder in the main area. I have had it for about a week and love it so far. I did get a spot on it of dirt or something and just took a wipe and it came off. I have the khaki color and it is a little darker in person- which is a good thing. Not sure how water resistant it is because I have not encountered rain yet but tomorrow it is supposed to rain and I have class so I will update accordingly.
Very Practical One
I have been using this bag for the past half year. It's a very practical and slim one. It has a huge capacity, in addition to the laptop compartment. You can fit in a few books and a laptop up to 15 inch. Also, there are few small pockets for small stuffs, e.g., keys and purses, with an easy access. Overall, I am very happy with this bag. Since I got this one, I have completely abandoned my Crumpler laptop bag.
