Excellent waterproof shell
These are the perfect minimalist shell for warm weather hiking or mountaineering. If you need warmth add a fleece or down liner. Great for cycling as well!

Just What I Was Looking For
These mitts were just what I was looking for - an unlined, waterproof shell to put over my insulating layers or use alone in warmer but still cool weather. Finding a waterproof, unlined shell has been surprising difficult. There are a few others out there, but many you have to seam seal yourself and their durability seems questionable. These are ready to go out of the package. The fit of the XL is just about perfect. My hand size is 8.25" from tip of index finger to bend of the wrist. Unlike say a knit mitten, these shells feel just a little bit baggy around my hand, but I think that's just the nature of the beast. I haven't found anything I could not do while wearing any other type of mittens. In fact, I think the grip on them is great. I could easily pull zippers, pinch objects between my thumb and fingers, turn on/off my flashlight, etc. I love the DuoCinch gauntlet setup. It's very easy to operate with the mitts on and provides great closure around my forearm. The additional strap at the wrist is also easy to operate and keeps the mitt from trying to slide off. In summary, just what I needed. I feel really confident in this piece of gear.

they're goretex
Just got these so haven't used them yet but plan on using them as a second pair of snowboarding mitts, or for those soaker days. They have no lining, just a goretex shell. I am between L and XL in most, these XLs fit nicely with a thicker glove as a liner. The gauntlet is nice and big and drawstrings are well designed, with a seperate string to loosen instead of that cheezy spring clip most have. I recently went to a goretex shell and bib so why not mitts? Its a suit of armor.

I love these
I bought these mainly for hiking but wore them on a ski trip recently. Very easy to pull on or off when I need to be able to use my fingers. I love my hands being water-proof as I am super-klutzy and fall a lot, no matter what I'm doing :p

Great Mitts
I have not tested these out on the trail, but in the shower, these babies work great (they're GoreTex). I have room in these sz L shells for my current liners - OR Backstop sz L - and have plenty of room for a warmer, thicker pair. The DuoCinch feature is pretty nifty too.
