I have worn this hat hiking every day since it arrived. The size large fit exactly the head size specified. The hat shades my face and neck completely without obscuring my view, stays on in the breeze, and is as cool to wear as you could hope for. I have not put it to the flotation test yet, but will soon wear it confidently on a rafting trip. I love this hat!

Lightweight, cool, and great sun protection
Racing our sailboat 5 months out of the year, I need a lightweight hat with a secure chin strap, superior upf protection and a wide brim to keep the sun off my face and out of my eyes. The Outdoor Research Solvida Sombrero does all that and is comfortable, too. I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Great Gardening Hat
I live in hot sunny Florida and I bought this hat to wear while gardening. It works great to keep the sun off my face, ears and neck, while keeping me cool. I bought the aloe/wasabi color hat because green is my favorite color and it is a very nice shade of green! I love it.

This hat is great for the dog park!
Going to the dog park every day I needed a hat that would protect me from the sun, yet also stay cool, and this hat definitely works! For years I have not worn a hat due to over heated head, but with the vents, I now feel safe from the sun and my head does not have to be hot! Love the neck cord, I don't have to worry about losing my hat while I'm on the boat.
