Outdoor Research Frostline Hat
Created specifically for frigid conditions, the Outdoor Research Frostline Hat combines dense Posh Pile fleece with a highly water resistant and lightweight 30-denier Pertex Endurance shell fabric. Unlike other winter caps and hats that give you nothing more than insulation and ear flaps, the Outdoor Research Frostline Hat has a zip-out Thermodynamic face mask with a looped polyester interior that won't irritate your skin. Outdoor Research added a zippered pocket inside their Frostline Hat so you can stow the face mask when the thermometer mercury ascends to milder temperatures. The foam brim helps keep your eyes protected from snow and bright sun, although you can snap the brim to the crown of the Frostline Hat when you don't need it--or whenever you remember to bring your sunglasses.

Perfect for biking
I purchased this product for biking in cold winter days/nights, and I am 100% satisfied. The fabric is thin, so that it fits well under my helmet. The fleece inside layer makes it very warm, and the waterproof and windproof outside layer provides protection against rain and snow. The face mask - very easily zipped out - may not provide the warmest protection against biting wind, but allows proper ventilation. It is ideal to wear under a hood.

this hat does it all
warm, 'retractable' visor and facemask. very comfortable in every configuration. little concerned about the longevity of the 'alternative to velcro' fasteners and stitching around that area - but all in all a great hat

warmth in the wind
The hat works great and in the wind is just right on cold days. The I use for long walks in a windy section of a park near home , seems to work just right with the cold temps.
