Perfect Button-up Shirt
This guidewater shirt is a great shirt to wear when fishing or hiking. I'm 6'2" and about 175 pounds. I bought the medium and have found that this shirt has a somewhat athletic fit to it. I have worn it comfortably over a merino-wool t-shirt and synthetic long sleeve midlayer. The snap buttons provided an easy on and off when layering and the zip pocket near the chest was great for storing my license and a few bills. The shirt got slightly wet on an overnight backpacking trip but was ready to be worn again by sunrise. I have found that the buttons for the roll-up sleeves are handy and prevent any nuisance of my sleeves continuously rolling down. It has a great look to it and is an appreciated lineup to my outdoor excursions. I have the blue and the green. It's only downside is the cost.
Don't let the price scare you
OK, it's quite a bit more expensive than your typical fishing/outdoor shirt, but you kind of have to see it to appreciate what Patagonia has done. The stretchy nylon fabric is very comfortable, avoiding the problems of cotton and cotton/poly. Lots of thoughtful design details (e.g. the ends of the tabs that hold rolled up sleeves stow away and won't snag a wind-blown fly line). Snaps instead of buttons. And the high quality sewing found on most Patagonia garments. This is a versatile garment that's going to work in lots of different situations.
Fantastic Shirt
Great outdoor shirt for camping/fishing/hiking and I may even use it on the couch. I am between the XL and XXL and this time I am glad I bought the XXL as the size is small for an XXL. The sleeve length is perfect (I am 6'4") and the extra room in the shirt allows for a layer underneath.
Really great shirt!
Fit is a little snug, but not worried about shrinkage over time. This is a super versatile shirt, fishing, hiking, traveling, work, it really can do it all and will continue to look good for many seasons to come.
