lightweight and versatile
These are perfect travel pants, they are lightweight and dry so quick after washing and don't need ironing. The fit is great but not as fitted as it looks on the model. They are low rise (not regular rise as described), regular fit, straight leg (according the tag). I am a size 4 in most pants and the size 4 fits perfect and comfortable and the length is great if not a bit too long for my height (I hate short pants), I am 5'4".
Great Pants
These pants are everything I was looking for. Very comfy, modern fit. Very light weight material. I am 5' 8" and they are just slightly too short, but I can easily get the hem taken down.
Best garment ever!
I love the Patagonia Solimar Pant. They are super lightweight and comfortable and they can be rolled up to make a crop pant. I bought two pairs to wear for a hiking trip in Spain in September but found the pants fit so well and look so good, I have been wearing them all summer almost every day. They dry in no time. The fit is true to size. I wear them so often, I recently purchased a third pair too! For an all round excellent summer weight hiking pant, you cannot go wrong with the Patagonia Solimar!
Almost Perfect
I thought these pants were almost perfect. They are super light weight, quick dry and very comfortable with a nice wide leg. The only downside is the pockets, they are essentially useless. The pockets entry is so big and comes down the side of the pants they can't even be trusted to hold chap stick in active environments. I wear these in the tropics (90+ deg and 90% humidity) and they are fantastic! No sweat lines, quick dry and any wrinkles from being in a pack smooth out quickly once you put them on. If you hang dry them, expect no wrinkles at all. I wear these as both pants and rolled up as capris and they are flattering and work well for dressing up, active wear and around the town gear. If you want a snug fit (but not excessive), even after a bit of wear buy true to size. If you want a nice relaxed fit over all, with a bit more relaxing after you wear them, then buy one size up. These pants have a lot of give to them and move with you but after some hard wear they do "relax" a bit like a pair of jeans.
Full-length pants for 6 oz.? Try Solimar
Patagonia offers this superlight pair of long pants, the only pair I will carry for a 175 mile trek in the Sierra in August. I chose these as they are the lightest I have found and also because they are very soft and comfortable. And, good news, they are also rated as upf-30. An important caveat is that they are low rise, not regular rise as advertised. Also they are not made for girls with thick thighs....suggest you size up, for me from a 4 to a 6, (I weigh 110 and am 5'2"), then take a tuck in the back waistband. This allows more freedom of movement for hiking uphill. A great feature is that the pants have a simple light button system that allows fast conversion to capri length (no clunky zip-off zipper to struggle with in the dark). Patagonia also offers a long short in the Solimar that converts to a shortish capri. I wear these and like them as well. There is a Solimar skirt I have not tried, but I would like to! Ah yes, as others have noted, the pockets are useless, but just adding a few circles of velcro can remedy this at least to keep larger objects from falling out.
