From sunrise to sunset during an all-out day, the Women's Traverse Pants from Patagonia prove as resilient as you are. These highly breathable, wind-resistant soft-shell pants are made from a fast-drying 93% all-recycled polyester/7% spandex fabric with 4-way mechanical stretch for unrestricted movement. A Deluge DWR (durable water repellent) finish keeps wet weather out, and the cling-free fit is roomy but not sloppy. Features include: a double-stitched drawcord waistband with a brushed-elastic interior; two handwarmer pockets that are now drop-in (not zippered); a zippered back pocket and 4-panel construction with reinforced knees; a gusseted crotch for freedom of movement; straight legs that work with Nordic boots or running shoes that are now zippered at the cuff (slimmer and tapered when zipped shut; straight when open). A reflective logo on the back right hip and reflective zippers keep you visible. The Traverse Pant is recyclable through the Common Threads Recycling Program.

Just what I was looking for
I'm always looking for that perfect pair backpacking pants and, in the Patagonia Traverse, I think I've found it. The flat locked seams make these pants great for wearing under a pack and the fabric feels like it will wear like steel. If these pants live up to the same standard as the rest of Patagonia's technical clothes, they're cheap at full price and a steal on sale.

Light but Durable
These pants are extremely lightweight (they feel like comfortable slippery silk on your skin) but hold up well to rain, wind, and the wear and tear of the hiking trail. My only issue with the pants - and this is true of all Patagonia bottoms - is that they are made for someone between 5'5 and 5'8", and at 5'11" I have to wear with high-top boots otherwise my ankles feel the breeze.
