Pelican Nemo 2000 Flashlight

On land or under water, if you're looking for something in the dark Pelican's Nemo 2000 will light the way. The Pelican Nemo 2000 is o-ring sealed with a twist-on shroud and comes with a polarity battery guard tray that safeguards against dangerous "outgassing" of hydrogen from an accidentally reversed cell. It is powered by 3 C alkaline cells for 33 Lumens and longevity. Batteries not included. In the water? No problem, the Nemo is submersible to 500 feet which also makes a great dive light. An ABS resin body is resistant to chemicals, corrosion, and extreme temperatures. This flashlight will stand up to anything. Unlike ordinary flashlights that produce a yellow beam, the Nemo 2000's incredibly bright Xenon beam produces an extra powerful collimated white beam. Pelican's Nemo 2000 is the leader in quality and performance.

Seriously Outdated Design. Seriously.
I will make no apologies for giving this one star. Ratings mean nothing if all products are five stars. This was a 5-star product in the 1990s. It is made for diving and is extremely durable and takes rough handling without a whimper. I loved this in its day. Best in class. However, the market has passed it by. Do yourself and this fragile planet a favor: get an AA LED flashlight with variable light output levels. The combination of variable light and LED(s) will make the batteries last up to 10 times as long. Also, in choosing a flashlight, avoid built-in batteries. You can buy rechargeable AAs, if you don't like disposables. Avoid the specialty lithium batteries. They cost too much. Avoid C and D battery flashlights, unless you really need a lot of light. For normal use, camping or home use, the newer AA LED lights have sufficient power and are light and compact, fit nicely in a small pocket, and are easy to hold for long durations. This light is 3 watts. Altrec has several of the AA LED flashlights with 1-3 watt outputs, for sale at similar prices to this C Cell flashlight. Buy one of those, instead. After several years of battery usage, you will thank yourself for having the patience to read a long review and thank Altrec for publishing a review that tells a harsh truth.
