When moving light and fast in one continuous 54-hour push, the Petzl Quark Axe w/ Griprest Handle and Clipper Leash is the perfect technical tool to get you over the high difficulty of ice and mixed ground. With a Griprest design and chopping adze, this high standard alpine axe has a geometric curvature that provides excellent clearance on mantles and ice bulges. The pick is engineered thinner at the tip to prevent ice shattering, has a steep angled at the first tooth for thin ice and small edges, features beveled teeth for deep placements, and has a broad tooth distribution to provide for good placement stability and hooking. A Clipper Leash allows for quick hooking of the axe for resting and security when placing protection, while the Griprest can be removed for sinking the shaft into the snow for step kicking security.

Fantastic Ice Tools
I have a pair of this babies and I am very happy with them.Used them on several ice routes.They hold very nicely even in the steepest ice and have them linked to my harness through a spinner leash...extra safety measure for sure in case something goes wrong and have tested it succesfuly. Just awesome!

Great Ice Tool...
I have a pair now and all I can say these are great ice tools. One thing I have not resolved it yet is how to attach Black Diamond spinner leash to handle of the tool.If you want to use the original leash, then it is as good as it gets in regard to ice tools.
