The North Face Mountain 25 Tent
It might not have the room for three offered by the VE 25, but the rugged Mountain 25 Tent from The North Face offers the same highly wind resistant performance while shaving a couple of pounds off your overall pack weight. With a trail weight of seven pounds, 12 ounces, the Mountain 25 tent is the lightest four-season expedition tent made by The North Face. A brow pole up top creates a lift venting profile that offers excellent cross flow while minimizing humidity. Like many of the best designed mountaineering tents, the Mountain 25 has an integrated polyurethane view window that's cold tested to -60F so you can check on the weather without compromising any of the warmth inside the tent. The guy-out points are numerous enough to weather big blows and the No-Stretch Kevlar guylines with camming adjustments are ideal for pitching in open spaces. The Mountain 25 comes with internal storage pockets for gear, but if you really want to organize (and possibly dry out) your mountaineering and backpacking gear, get the fully-compatible #2 Gear Loft from The North Face. If you're going minimalist, don't forget to buy the Mountain 25 Footprint so you can add a floor to your poles and fly configuration.

Great Tent
As a frequent climber of Mount Rainier and other Cascade peaks High winds are the norm, this is my first North Face Tent, it held up great in very high winds and snow.
North Face Mountain Withstands Gale Winds of Quetico
Bought the NF Mountain in June 2007 and took it into Quetico Provencial Park in late July for 12 days. Withstood a torrential rain storm early in the trip, and later, it survived two days of high wind while we were stranded on Lookout Island on Pickeral Lake. Sturdy, roomy, comfortable with lot's of pleasant storage surprises once you start living in it. Buy it if you want a quality tent.
The Northface Mountain 25 Tent is an excellent Tent!
I had my maiden voyage recently with this tent, and under severe winter conditions (snow, wind, and subzero temps) it held up extremely well. Other campers had problems with their tents blowing down, water problems, etc. But, I slept confortably, dry and safe! Thank you for your prompt service and for production of a very good product!
Disposition of Poles in High Winds
Since there is a review below critical of this tent's performance in high winds, I think it worth mentioning that when pitching for windy conditions the poles should be inserted in their terminal holes such that they are at maximum tension, thus giving the criss-crossing pole structure its maximum stability by virtue of enhanced mutual reinforcement. Effective staking also contributes to tent stability in high wind.
addendum
please add this to my review just submitted: An additional significant benefit of this tent is that The North Face is very easy to deal with when it comes to warranty claims. If anything goes wrong with the tent my experience has shown that they will promptly handle it properly with no problems.
