Yakima Raptor Bike Rack

Great way to bring your bike along
I have a vehicle with a 2" hitch receiver and usually transport my bike with a hitch mounted rack. However, recently I used my travel trailer which precluded using the hitch mounted rack. I decided to give the Raptor Bike Rack a try. It worked great. I drove about 2,000 miles with my mountain bike in this rack and it is a very convenient way to bring a bike along when traveling. The bike is very stable when driving at highway speeds even with strong winds. I used Mighty Mounts to attach the rack to my roof rack. I am able to lift the bike onto the rack and fasten it to the rack with relative ease when getting ready to travel. The bike weighs about 27 pounds. The large clamp needs to be spread apart once it is loosened. Then it can be attached to the frame and tightened. Once this is done attach the tire straps and tighten them. It may be necessary to rotate the tires slightly so as not to contact the spokes with the straps. Check the rack after the first few miles to be sure everything is tight. It is important to remember not to drive under low roofs or low hanging limbs when carrying a bike this way. The top of my bike is about 11 feet off the ground. I have a Toyota 4Runner.

This is a great rack, easy to install, and nice because you don't have to remove the front wheel to mount the bike!!!!
